2019 Australian Mathematics Competition

11/09/2019
At the beginning of Semester 2 students in Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 who achieved an A in Mathematics were invited to participate in the Australian Maths Trust (AMT), Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC).

Fred B (4R), Emma Kong (4R) and Dusty Y (4S); Charlie Gordon (5B) and Chelsea S (5D); Andrei R (6P), Jake G (6P), Noah L (6P) and Ryan Z (6P) achieved results in the top 5% of all participating students Australia-wide. Overall, thirty students achieved a High Distinction or Distinction, which is particular pleasing. We will recognise these results at an upcoming school parade.

Here are two questions from the Year 4 and Year 5 competitions:
There are 390 children at a summer camp. One-third of the number of girls is equal to one-half of the number of boys. How many girls are there?
A seven-digit number is in the form 20AMC19, with all the digits different. It is divisible by 9. What is the value of A+M+C?

Congratulations to all students who were invited to participate in the 2019 AMC.
