Extreme Weather

This time of year brings the almost predictable sight of heavy rain, right on the start of a playtime or going home time and higher than normal temperatures.
This brings with it some challenges for staff and students alike.
Decisions regarding alternatives to play breaks and outdoor time and also our release procedures are always made with the safety of your children as paramount.
During our extremely hot days, outside play breaks maybe limited, regular drinks breaks are provided and students are encouraged to remain inside and out of direct sun. Swimming lessons may also be impacted.
If severe weather at the end of the school day is a cause of concern for the Leadership Team, teachers will be asked to keep their students in their care in their designated campus areas until the weather passes. I do appreciate that this will add time to the regular after school collection routines and that sometimes these decisions are forced at the last minute so your support and understanding as to why the decisions are made is appreciated. If your child travels home via public transport I would encourage you to speak with their teacher in regards to your wishes in these type of events. I reiterate again that keeping your child safe is our priority in these instances.
