P&C MEETING – Wednesday 21 November

The last P&C meeting for 2018 will be held on Wednesday 21 November from 7pm in the library.  Parking is available in the staff car park and the lane way (off Old Cleveland Road).P&C meetings are a great way to meet other parents and carers and school staff.  Hope to see you there!

Get the family active for 2019!

For just $300 for the entire year (that’s just $6.00 per week) reserve your 1 hour time slot per week at the Coorparoo State Schools tennis courts. This would make a fantastic Christmas present which lasts the whole year! Simply contact Mel Christie on for further information. Start date 1st of January to 31st or December. All funds help to support the Coorparoo State School P&C.

The P&C is looking for someone to help with sponsorship for the P&C. We have had no one in the role for the last year and we are really needing someone to assist. Let’s raise some funds for CSS and improve the facilities and opportunities available to our children!!

This involves:

• Chatting with the local community about supporting the P&C.

• Help arranging sponsorship for the electronic sign board (we have costing but need sponsors wanting to put their details up for a cost)

• Collecting money from Athletics’ Foot as every time we go there the school get $5 (this is a yearly request).

• Assist with fundraising events to gather sponsors and donations

The role could be done at home if you have young children. If you would be interested in this role please email

Coorparoo State School will be taking part in a Riverbend Instore Book fair during the weekend of 16 - 18 November.  The school community is invited to Riverbend Books and all book purchases during this period will be tallied and 15% (less GST) of those sales are credited back to our school in the form of a book voucher.  All book items for sale in the store are eligible.  Just mention you are from Coorparoo State School when making your purchases.

The 2018/2019 Coorparoo State School Swim Club season has now commenced with two meets now under our belt.  It's not too late to get involved though with seven more meets planned before the Christmas break, as well as a huge calendar of events in Term 1 culminating in our Club Championships on March 22nd and trophy night a week later!

And in some breaking news... we have a brand new website address (well, technically we're just adding a .au on the end but there's few subtle changes too) - - and for the first time you can now register online, rather than filling out a paper form.  So if you haven't registered yet you can now do it at

Have you got a spare 20 minutes after school drop off?  If so, we would love you to help us get the day going in the Tuck Shop.  No experience or cooking is required.

Just stop in any Tuesday to Friday.  The roller door is down in the mornings before school but we are busy inside.  Please come to the side door and you'll find us inside.

Thank you

Sunny, Liz and Adela

Our friends at Vuly have put up their ultimate trampoline for one lucky raffle winner at the Coorparoo Carnival on 15 October 2017. Their Thunder Summer XL is their biggest springless model available, and the whole prize is worth over $3,000 – including delivery to the winner and a free Shade Cover! Vuly are based in Brisbane, and their Thunder Summer not only has a fully enclosed safety net, but the winner will also have full warranty coverage and half-price replacement parts even when the warranty is finished. This raffle prize is one that’ll be providing your family with fun for years to come.

There’s no better way to unwind after a long school day than bouncing in your backyard. Before getting started on that homework, hopping on the trampoline gets oxygen-rich blood to your brain – letting you concentrate for longer and work at your best!.

The Coorparoo State School P&C aims to:
  • Provide a forum for positive discussion of educational issues, school policies, long-term planning and budgeting.
  • Welcome everyone’s views, opinions, input and suggestions and aim to make decisions on behalf of the school community, representing a wide cross-section of our families.
  • Reorganise fundraising events such as our biennial festival (fete), spell-a-thons, etc., which help the school to provide resources above and beyond those provided by Education Queensland.
  • Organise events and functions to bring our teaching staff in closer contact with our parent body, to encourage better communication and understanding of each other’s roles.
  • Represent all interest groups and specialty areas within the school. Groups and services sponsored by the P&C include the Swimming Club and Music Committee.

General meetings of the P&C are held during the year.  Please see the events calendar on the website for dates and times. We encourage you to attend these meetings, both to learn more about your school, and to have input to the decision-making process. The Annual General Meeting is held on the third Wednesday of March each year. The President’s Annual Report and the Annual Financial Report are presented at this meeting. Elections also take place for positions on the Executive Committee for the following year.

School Community Liaison Officer (SCLO)

The P&C fund the employment of a School Community Liaison Officer. It is the job of the SCLO to work towards bringing all sections of the community together in order to facilitate strong working relationships across the community and assist in the development of a rich and inclusive learning environment for our children.

These duties include promoting community building within the school, hosting social events, providing information to parents about the school and educational issues, fostering community networks, developing volunteer networks within the school and keeping lines of communication open between teaching staff, administration, students and parents. The SCLO also manages the Parent Classroom Representative Program.
