2022 Musical "Singin in the Rain"
For Coorparoo State School's 2022 Musical, we are going back in time to the golden age of musicals - to the very beginning of talking movies in fact. This year we will be "Singin' in the Rain".
Including some of the best-loved comedy routines, dance numbers and songs ever written like “Good Mornin'," “Make 'em Laugh," and of course – the show-stopping dance number - “Singin' in the Rain." This musical has great lead roles for talented singers and comedic actors, numerous smaller parts, and multiple chorus numbers. Students in Years 5 & 6 are encouraged to audition for a lead part, students in Years 3 & 4 are welcome to join the chorus, no audition necessary! Sign-up sheets in the Music Room.
Auditions on Saturday 26 March from 12:00 – 5:00pm in the school music room. Performance Term 3 on Friday 12 August, Saturday 13 August and Sunday 14 August.
Audition Process
What students need to do:
1. Decide what role you would like to audition for.
Students may wish to be considered for one role only e.g. Kathy. Or they may also want to be considered for several roles e.g. Kathy, Roz or a Broadway Dancer.
2. Read an excerpt from the script.
Regardless of how many roles they wish to be considered for, students need only read one script (Juliet, our Director, will read the other part).
3. If auditioning for a singing part, you will need to sing either:
Lucky Star OR
Singin' in the Rain (just the first verse and chorus)
