Coorparoo State School Aussie of the Month Awards - Recognising and celebrating Coorparoo Character and SOAR
The Aussie of the Month primary school civics and citizenship recognition program is delivered under the auspices of the Australia Day Council's National Network, which also delivers the Australian of the Year Awards. The focus of this program is to encourage and recognise students for their contribution to community through a demonstration of Australian values as outlined in the Values for Australian Schooling and Curriculum framework.
How it works:
Teachers and students in every class from Prep to year 6 can nominate a monthly recipient from their class. Teachers and students can reference our school's Coorparoo Character rubrics and SOAR matrix as criteria for nominations. Nominated students will receive a recognition certificate in class.
Each of these Aussie of the Month nominations will then reviewed by members of the school's student leadership team who will select one student each month to be the school's 'Aussie of the Month'. These will be announced in class and recognised at the end of each term at our 'STUDENT SUCCESS' parade.
These are values outside of academic application, instead about active contribution to school, community and peer groups:
Values:
• Fair go – not just in how we apply ourselves but also providing opportunity for all
• Mateship - generosity of spirit and compassion for those in need
• Respect – of self, others, of our community and the environment
• Inclusion – Celebrating difference, and the rights and freedoms we are all entitled to
Students who are exemplary in their demonstration of Coorparoo Character and SOAR exemplify these values and are worthy of nomination for our own Aussie of the Month award. https://www.aussieofthemonth.org.au/
Our first nominations are due Thursday 22 April!
