Get ready for Book Week in Week 7!!
Tuesday 22 August. Dress Up Day/Parade
Students of all year levels and staff are encouraged to join in the dress up as a favourite book character. You do not have to go to great expense, just be creative with what you have at home! There are no prizes for best dressed. Students may bring the book related to their character if they wish.
Students from Prep-Year 3 will participate in a dress-up parade on the day in the hall. There will be two sessions. Prep & YR 1: 9am; YR 2 & YR 3: 10am. Parents are invited to join these sessions.
Upper grades will be able to see class and teacher costumes when lining up in the morning.
Monday 21 August. THE AUNTY PEACH SHOW will be in the hall. The performance is based around Roald Dahl's twisted fairy tales. Duration 1 hour Times: 9 - 10am (Y3&4) & 10.20 - 11.20am (Y5&6). No cost to students.
Friday 25 August. Cate Storey will be our visiting Author for Prep to Year 2. Prep 9:15am - 10:00am. Yrs 1 & 2 - 10:15am - 11:00am. Cate Storey, Author of some beautiful picture books on Australian animals, and a parent at our school will present a session for the Prep and Year 1 & 2 students. No cost to students. Cate will be talking about her writing process and reading her latest book 'The Perfect Hollow' to each group. We are very excited!
Each week this term, class teachers have been reading students one of the six Early Childhood books in the Children's Book Council of Australia competition. Voting for the Coorparoo favourite Early Childhood book will occur in Week 6 in class time. The official CBCA winner in each category is announced Friday of that week. There will be a draw of names from the most popular Coorparoo choice and the CBCA winner on Tuesday Week 7, with students drawn receiving a book prize. You are welcome to pop into the library before or after school to see the displays and books.
