Diwali Celebrations at Coorparoo this Year
Diwali, the festival of light is the most important religious celebration for Hindus, Sikhs and Jains all over the world. The festival is a celebration of the victory of light over darkness and the triumph of good over evil. This festival lasts up to five days from the 23 October to 27 October, with the main celebration on 24 October.
During Diwali people decorate their homes, visit temples and share meals with friends. They also light candles and oil lamps. Homes and buildings are decorated with Rangoli made from flowers, sand and coloured rice.
This year CSS will celebrate Diwali in Week 5. Children who celebrate Diwali at home can wear their celebration clothes to school on Wednesday 2 November. There will be Rangoli drawing and Bhangra dancing at school on this day as well.
We wish all families celebrating this festival a very happy Diwali.
