BUILDING COORPAROO CHARACTER: 2020 – 2024 Coorparoo State School Student Wellbeing Strategy
The goal of our Student Wellbeing Strategy is to create a positive school culture that embeds student wellbeing into all aspects of school life.
Each week we will be offering our staff research-based, practical ways for supporting student wellbeing in their classrooms, taken from MAKING WELLBEING PRACTICAL by Luke McKenna (Unleashing Personal Potential)

ABOUT UNLEASHING PERSONAL POTENTIAL (UPP)
UPP’s mission is for every student to become the best they can be. Their vision is to impact 50,000 students each year to LEARN, LIVE AND LEAD better, through exceptional incursions.
UPP specialises in making Wellbeing and Positive Education practical by making scientifically grounded strategies engaging, relevant, challenging and inspiring for schools.
In 2021 UPP delivered four exceptional days for all of our year 5 and 6 students and we are excited that we can continue this work through these practical activities.

MAKING WELLBEING PRACTICAL #1
Description of Personal Wellbeing Practice: Three Hard Things
When we feel like we have overcome hard things, this tends to build our self-confidence and experience of mastery. We are therefore more likely to persevere toward important goals (Adams Miller 2017).
1. Record three hard things that you have done recently (e.g. started at a new school; spoke to someone in my class who I didn’t know; attempted a sport I’ve never tried before; asked a question in class when I didn’t understand).
2. Explain what made each of them difficult.
3. Include how you did them and what strengths you used.
Then, if you feel comfortable to do so, please share one of your hard things with one other person. www.unleashingpersonalpotential.com.au
