Today the QLD Government announced a 3 Day lockdown for 11 LGA's including Brisbane.

Everyone is to remain at home unless an essential worker. Students are to remain at home unless you are an essential worker and there is no capacity to care for them at home.

Monday as part of the Departments COVID lockdown procedure teachers will be planning resources for learning at home to commence Tuesday 3 August.

I am confident our staff and their ability to rapidly adapt current class programs to support continued learning from home. We have done this before and we are now much more skilled and agile in alternative delivery methods, should the lockdown be extended beyond Tuesday.

Last week our teachers were working with Microsoft on improvements to Microsoft Teams and One Note that will place us in a great position to support students.

As always students at home can be using Mathletics, reading and using Language perfect in the upper grades. Mandy students will already have homework for the week to complete and so I am sure Monday can easily be a productive day for our children. The Department has a great website full of activities and ideas for students to use from home. https://education.qld.gov.au/curriculum/learning-at-home

Teachers will be in contact as soon as we can, to keep you informed.

If you are an essential worker and do not have a capacity to support children at home, then students can come to school for supervision.

Students of these workers will gather in the main covered area at 9:00am Monday and staff will organize their supervision.

Pickup will be back in the main covered area at 2:50pm.

Staff will be wearing masks and ensuring social distancing. Please ensure you are complying with directives if entering the school. We do not want to be shut due to a positive transmission.

As a parent it is important that you are reinforcing with students the need for hygiene and explaining that this while a difficult time, is simply part of keeping each other safe from the spread of this virus. Our staff will be sharing this same narrative with our children.

Let's hope a short sharp lockdown will help to get us back to school really soon.

Stay safe

Dean Murphy
