βββββThis week, our Year 3 and Year 5 students will participate in this year's NAPLAN assessments. Like all schools through-out Australia, we have transitioned from paper-based to computer-based assessments. However, all Year 3 students will continue to complete the writing assessment on paper.
The NAPLAN assessment window starts Wednesday 15 March and finishes Monday 27 March. To ensure every student has the opportunity to compete the assessments Education Queensland advises that the assessment program be scheduled as soon as possible within this assessment window.
This year, our Year 3 and Year 5 assessment schedule will occure :
- Writing β Wednesday 15 March
- Reading β Thursday 16 March
- Conventions of Language β Friday 17 March
- Numeracy β Monday 20 March
The actual assessments take between 45 β 60 minutes and are completed in classrooms under the supervision of class teachers and support staff. In the event that a student is absent, we will arrange for them to complete any missed assessments at another time during the current NAPLAN assessment window.
NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school's assessment and reporting process. It doesn't replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance, but it can provide teachers with additional information about students' educational progress.
