I am excited to return from Long Service Leave this week for the final weeks of the school year. Firstly, I want to thank Mark Craswell for his leadership as acting Principal in my absence. I appreciate all he has done and the leadership team for their efforts to make it business as usual.
New OSHC Building Update
It is very exciting to see the culmination of over a year of planning to design and install our new OSHC building. This allows us to extend our licence and provide greater opportunities for parents who require OSHC. Through creative planning we were able to maintain as much play space as possible for Kijini which was critical. The new grounds shed is not yet complete, but hopefully will be later in the term. Thank you to our local member Joe Kelly for making this project possible.
New Kijini Fencing Update
We were also able to complete the new fencing for Kijini oval and play space. This provides much safer fencing near walls and looks great! Thank you for your patience during this time.
CSS Diwali Celebrations
This week our school is celebrating Diwali. Today we are wearing our Indian clothes and drawing Rangoli and dancing in the hall to share culture and have fun. This is one of my favourite times of the year. I wish all families peace and happiness for the year ahead.
Student Attendance
These final weeks will move very quickly and there is so much to do before the school year ends. Making sure your child attends each day is critical as our teachers work hard to support children's learning.
Prep Orientation Sessions
This week we welcomed another group of Prep children for 2022 to our school. The children had great visits to classes while parents spent some time learning about how school will work and what they need to know as parents. My thanks to teachers and senior students for helping on these special days.
Grandparents' Day
This Friday 4 November, we will be welcoming Grandparents to our school in the afternoon from 2:00pm – 2:45pm. It is lovely to have Grandparents Day back and we are really excited about this opportunity. Your child's class teacher will be communicating with you about their plans for the afternoon. Please remember that parking issues can be lessened if you park at Coorparoo Square and walk over at the traffic lights, or park in nearby streets.
Remembrance Day Ceremony
CSS Remembrance Day Ceremony will be held on Friday 11 November at 10:45 - 11:10am. All are welcome to join.
Remembrance Day Poppies & Ribbons
Remembrance Day poppies and ribbons will be available for students to purchase from the Office, November 9 – November 11, before school and at First Break. Cost will be $1.00 and all proceeds will go to the Coorparoo RSL.
Remember, keep up-to-date with school information and upcoming events this term via the QSchools App and/or the School Website direct: https://coorparooss.eq.edu.au/.
