Sports Gala Day (Year 5 & 6 Students)

​​​All year five and six students have been invited to participate in non-competitive sports with students from CSS and other local schools on Friday 31 August 2023. Students have nominated their preferred sports from the following options: Soccer, AFL, Netball, Oz-Tag and Basketball. Coorparoo State School has subsidised half of the costs for each student to attend the Gala Day. Sports will be held at various venues requiring students to either walk or travel by seat belted bus to and from the venues.

Consent and Invoices 

Available via QParents from Friday (11 August 2023). The Consent includes ALL sport information and Parents and caregivers must read the 'additional requirements' below before providing consent for their child to attend. Please ensure you complete the consent and make payment no later than Thursday 24 August, noting that this date is an extension from the date that appears on the forms.

Specific Requirements for each sport:

  • NETBALL Students will walk to the MDNA Courts, Coorparoo

Safety Information Students are asked to have trimmed nails, no jewellery and appropriate footwear.

  • BASKETBALL Students catch a bus to Clem Jones Centre, Carina

Safety Information Students are asked to have trimmed nails, no jewellery and appropriate footwear.

  • SOCCER Students catch a bus to Balmoral State High – Thynne Street

Safety Information Students are asked to have trimmed nails, no jewellery and appropriate footwear (students may wear soccer boots). Students will also require shin pads. Whilst the school has a number of pairs available to use, we recommend students bring their own.

  • OZ TAG Students catch a bus to Whites Hill State College - Samuel St Sport fields - Samuel St & Jade St, Camp Hill.

Safety Information Students are asked to have trimmed nails, no jewellery and appropriate footwear (students may wear football boots).

  • AFL Students catch a bus to Moorooka Roosters Australian Football Club, Corner Currey Avenue and Beaudesert Road, Moorooka

Safety Information Students MUST WEAR MOUTHGUARDS and are asked to have trimmed nails, no jewellery and appropriate footwear (students may wear football boots).​

Additional Information:

Here are some reminders if your child is participating: 

  • All students must wear their school sports uniform including hat.
  • All students must wear sneakers to and from the venue (Students choosing to wear football boots, must change into these at the venue).
  • They must each have enough food and water for the duration of the day and should apply and reapply sunscreen throughout the day.
  • Students who have authority to carry and self-administer medications must ensure their supervising teacher is aware before departing school.​
