Next month (17/08) we will be celebrating National Science Week with the Street Science live production, “Breaking Point – The Way Glass Shatters Matters".

Similarly to last year's performance, the show will be presented in McCahon's Hall by the Street Science team.

Timetable for Street Science on 17 August 2022

Session 108:50 – 09:45Prep, Year 1, Year 2, 4J & 4F – Show starts at 09:00
Session 2 10:00 – 11:00Year 3, 4K, 4L, 4P, Year 5 & Year 6 - Show starts at 10:15

At this year's show, the Street Science team will investigate the importance and prevalence of glass in our daily lives. Glass is a material that we take for granted, yet it plays essential role in our daily lives. With its unparalleled versatility and technical capabilities, glass in its many guises has fostered innumerable cultural and scientific advancements such as the conduit for global communication; our touch screen phones; glass sheets on solar panels; and the optics lenses of microscopes & telescopes (James Webb space telescope) to name a few. On reflection it should be a smashing show.

Students will explore how glass is made; how glass can bend light; and how glass is used in different technologies.
