βββOn Monday 19 July 2021, Year 5 will be visiting Ngutana-Lui Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Studies Centre as part of our curriculum programs for English, Humanities and Social Sciences and Science.
The aim of the excursion is to increase students' awareness, knowledge, understanding and respect of the cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Students will participate in lessons focussed on traditional dress at celebrations and celebrations used in Torres Strait Islands culture, story telling and thorugh the use of instruments. These activities compliment the Year 5 English, Science and Humanities and Social Sciences national curriculums.
Activity details:
Time: Meet at your child's classroom at 8:30am. Bus departs at 8:45am, return to CSS at approx. 2:45pm.
Transport: Bus to and from.
Where: Ngutana Lui Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander Cutural Studies Centre, Inala.
What to wear: Students are required to wear their formal school uniform. Students will need comfortable closed-in footwear, suitable for walking.
What to bring: Hats, drink bottles, morning tea and lunch. Food needs to be sealed in a lunchbox or lunch bag. Note: Sunscreen needs to be applied before school.
COST: $12.00 per student

The school is paying Entry Fee costs for this program.
An invoice will be emailed home and available in QParents. LATE PAYMENTS CANNOT BE ACCEPTED.
REMEMBER: Permission and payment are both required before the due date in order for your child to attend.
