Behaviour management

Coorparoo State School is committed to providing a safe, respectful and disciplined learning environment for students and staff, where students have opportunities to engage in quality learning experiences and acquire values supportive of their lifelong wellbeing.

Our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support framework is designed with key goals and actions committed to sustaining a positive learning environment where all students are able to learn to reach their full potential all day, every day at Coorparoo State School.


We are Safe, we are Organised, we are Active learners and we are Responsible.

SOAR resides as a core element of the Coorparoo State School Responsible Behaviour Plan. The plan is designed to facilitate high standards of behaviour so that the learning and teaching in our school can be effective and students can participate positively within our school community. SOAR is also the platform for which student goal setting, student voice, ongoing learning and collaboration for all and high expectations and authentic relationships are built upon.

Data shows that by remaining consistent with high expectations and ways of responding to these expectations; by emphasising the use of preventative teaching and reinforcement-based strategies to achieve meaningful and durable behaviour outcomes; and by using consistent language and predictable consequences (applied by all staff, at all times, and across all locations in the school), SOAR  has reduced problematic behaviours and increased academic performance. 

CSS has developed a matrix of expected positive behaviours across all year levels in a variety of school and off campus settings.

The ongoing relevance and effectiveness of SOAR and related  processes is something that is reflected upon regularly and is core to the success of all that we do in providing a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment. 


Protecting our children from harm is just as important online as it is in the real world. As a school community we can all play an important role in helping children have safe and positive experiences online. The internet offers an exciting world of experiences for children and the whole family. It can be entertaining, educational and rewarding. However, using the internet also involves risks and challenges.

Children might be exposed to content that is sexually explicit, violent, prohibited or even illegal.

Children may - unknowingly or deliberately - share personal information without realising they may be subject to inappropriate contact, or that they are leaving behind content that might not reflect well on them in the future.

By taking an active role in talking with your children about the risks and answering their questions or concerns about something that they find on the Internet you can help them stay safer online.

Our young people are the most connected generation ever. They live in an online world where digital interactions provide a sense of meaning, belonging and community. However, this environment can also introduce considerable risk into their lives. Many young people and their families do not have the strategies to deal with these risks and the impacts it can have on their mental and emotional health and wellbeing now and in the future.

As an eSmart school, we will continue to promote positive use of digital technologies and behaviours among our students and staff alike. We also have available a series of options for our students to report inappropriate online behaviours, details of which can be found on the school website under both student and parent resources.

If you need to report any inappropriate online behaviour you can:

1.   Speak directly to your teacher, parents or caregiver, or

2.   Use the online form available from the school website under Student Resources, or
