I hope this message finds you 'dry'!

I wanted to share my disappointment in having to postpone today's performance parade due to the inclement weather. We were all looking forward to showcasing our students' hard work, but safety must always come first. The parade has been rescheduled for the afternoon of Thursday 24 October, the day after Grandparents' Day.

With the unpredictable weather we've been experiencing, I want to remind everyone that on days of extreme weather, students will be kept undercover or indoors at the end of the school day. This decision is made with the utmost concern for our students' safety, and I appreciate your understanding and support in this matter.

I also want to address a concerning trend we have observed regarding driver behaviour during pick-up times. It is disappointing to witness some drivers disregarding road rules and signage, which not only puts our children at risk but also disrupts the flow of traffic.

Additionally, some parents and caregivers have been seen crossing main roads outside of designated crossings or at traffic lights. I urge you to prioritise safety both yours and your children's by adhering to these rules.

As we look ahead, I wish our Year 6 students and staff the best for their upcoming school camp at Mapleton next week. This experience will undoubtedly create lifelong memories, and I hope everyone enjoys their time away. My thanks to those members of staff who are accompanying our seniors – your own time away from home and family is greatly appreciated.

Lastly, I want to acknowledge receipt of the recent school opinion survey results. We are grateful for your insights, which affirm the great work happening at our school while also highlighting areas for growth. Your feedback is invaluable as we strive to enhance the CSS experience for all our students, families, and staff. Of particular note, and one in which I have asked those responsible to celebrate, is that one of the most positive responses from parents and caregivers was that our school buildings and grounds are well maintained – kudos to our hardworking grounds and cleaning staff.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in fostering a safe and enriching environment for our students.

Acting Principal, John Kennedy
