As per arrangements in previous years, students will compete in either Championship or Participation events at our Senior Athletics carnival this year.

800m
Students wishing to compete in the Championship 800m must attend a trial session (no sign up is necessary, but it is the responsibility of the student to attend the trial for their age group or the make-up trial if they were absent). The 800m trials are on the following dates:
Friday 31/5 (Week 7) - SECOND BREAK - 800m time trials for 8Yrs (2016), 9 Yrs (2015) and 12 Yrs (2012)
Monday 3/6 (Week 8) - SECOND BREAK - 800m time trials for 10 Yrs (2014) and 11 Yrs (2013)
Wednesday 5/6 (Week 8) – SECOND BREAK - 800m time trials for any students who were absent or if weather affected one of the other trial days.
Other Championship Events
For Long Jump, Shot Put and High Jump Championship events, students have been selected during class PE sessions. Lists for Championship Events will be posted outside the PE office and B Block noticeboard next Thursday, 6th June.
Lytton District Athletics (10, 11 and 12 Yrs)
Students must compete in a Championship event to be selected in our school Athletics team. To gain selection in the school team, students must meet Lytton prerequisites which vary from discipline to discipline. Lytton Athletics Carnival will be held on Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 July at UQ Athletics Centre.
200m and Discus (10, 11 and 12 Yrs ONLY)
For students wishing to gain selection in our CSS Athletics team for the 200m, there will be time trials on the Monday (10th ) and Tuesday (11th) at the conclusion of the Athletics Carnival. Please see the Carnival Program for times. There will be a subsequent final (Top 6 fastest times in each age group) to select the runners for the school team.
For students who are interested in competing in the Discus event at Lytton Trials, there will be a trial in early Term 3.
Shields:
Track and Field - incorporates the Long Jump, Shot Put, High Jump, 100m and 800m events.
Spirit Cup - incorporates Tug-of-War/Novelty Events, Dodge Ball and Ball Games. Points can also be accrued for: tidiest house area, best war cries and most people in a house being sun safe.
* Every student who participates will also earn a point for their House which will go towards the end of year Count-Me-In Cup for the house with the most active participation in all school events across the year.
Individual Awards:
Coorparoo State School Place ribbons - awarded to any athlete who gets a place in a Championship event of a track and field event (no ribbons for heats or participation events).
Age Champion Medallions- awarded to the athletes from each age group (8-12 Yrs Boys and Girls) who accrue the highest number of points from the Championship Track and Field events (Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, 800m, 100m).
