As we commence the final term of the school year, I would like to extend a warm welcome back to all of our students and families. I would also to welcome Barb O’Brien and Erika Loney to the school leadership team. Both will work alongside Sophia Ramsay, Will Windsor and myself while Mr Dean Murphy, enjoys his long service leave overseas.
Spanning 11 weeks, this term will be filled with engaging activities that aim to inspire and challenge our students as well as providing opportunities for our families to participate in some wonderful events too. We encourage you to stay informed by regularly checking the calendar of events available on our school website: https://coorparooss.eq.edu.au/calendar.../events-calendar and the Parent Overview (one page calendar to print).
I would also like to remind all families that the attendance survey for students currently in Prep to Year 5 is now open. This survey plays a crucial role in our planning for classes and staff allocations for 2025.

Your support in completing these is greatly appreciated.
As our students near an important transition phase in their lives, be that to new year levels or new schools in 2025, we do know that these experiences can cause anxiety among many of our students. We have a brilliant wellbeing resource that can support you in navigating through some of these with and many other challenges relating to modern-day parenting.
SchoolTV, is an award-winning resource that helps build relationships, foster connections, enable understanding and break down barriers to navigate a pathway towards better mental health and wellbeing for young people. It can assist in starting conversations on topics that are sometimes awkward or difficult to tackle. Families can:
• Watch video interviews with leading national and international wellbeing specialists
• Browse the library of resources. Each topic is accompanied by factsheets, podcasts, books, articles, apps and videos
• Access a series of mental health topics such as cybersafety, anxiety, screen time, positive parenting and many more

One area that we have noticed a significant increase in, is the number of students bringing mobile phones and smart watches to school. We request that all phones are switched off upon arrival at school and handed in at the office for safekeeping. Furthermore, we ask that all notifications on smart watches be disabled. It has come to our attention that some students have been messaging friends and family during the school day, which disrupts their learning and that of others. We appreciate your cooperation in reinforcing these expectations with your children.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us make this final term a memorable and successful one for all.
John Kennedy, Acting Principal
