It is a pleasure to be back with the school community after my long service leave. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to our Acting Leadership Team for their dedication and hard work during my absence. Their commitment has ensured a smooth transition, and I am deeply grateful for their efforts.
As we look ahead, the next five weeks promise to be busy and exciting, filled with assessment, reporting, and special events for our students and families. One of the highlights is our Diwali celebration—an opportunity to honour and share in this vibrant festival of lights with many of our families. To those celebrating, we wish you a joyous Diwali filled with love and happiness.
Our swimming program is underway, and we extend our gratitude to the parent helpers who make this valuable experience possible for our students. We know it takes extra time and effort, and your support means so much to us. This weekend, our Touch Academy team will be competing after weeks of training and dedication. We are proud of your hard work and wish you every success—thank you,
Mr. Simon Fairbairn and Mrs Erika Loney for your commitment to these students.
I would also like to acknowledge the vital role that all our parent volunteers play across many areas of the school. From the classroom to special events, your involvement creates a lasting positive impact on our students. In particular, we are currently in need of additional tuckshop volunteers. This service is loved by students, but we rely on volunteers to keep it open and running smoothly. With the School Disco on Friday 8 November, we are also calling on any parents available to assist in making this event a memorable one for our students. If you have never volunteered in the past or can give some time, even if it is just 30 minutes, it will mean so much. Please reach out to the P&C to register your interest to volunteer via sclo@coorparooss.eq.edu.
Today, on Tuckshop Day, we would like to especially thank our tuckshop staff, Rewa, Natt, Lyndsey and volunteers who work tirelessly to serve our students and bring a smile to their faces. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. It was so special this week to see food available to celebrate Diwali. I am so proud to be part of a community where we come together and share.
Finally, we look forward to our Year 3 to 6 Aquathlon on Thursday 7 November and would love to have your support. The event will take place from 11:20am to 1:00pm, and having parents there makes it an even more exciting day for our students.
I would like to draw your attention to a very important community issue that as parents we must all ensure is a priority for our families. Online behaviour and Cybersafety is one of the greatest challenges for parents and our children today. What we post online stays forever and it is critical we teach our children about their digital reputation and the impacts of what they do and say.
I want to commend you to this great series by Dr Michael Carr Gregg that is available on our School TV (https://coorparooss.eq.schooltv.me/newsletter/social-media-and-digital-reputation)
Thank you once again for your support and partnership in making our school a thriving and positive environment for all.
