Book Week: Week 6, 18-23 August
Book Week is celebrated in conjunction with The Children’s Book Council of Australia’s Book of the Year Awards. This year the theme is – Book an Adventure. At CSS the teachers are reading the 6 Early Childhood books to their class before Book Week. The students will then vote for their favourite, before the official CBCA winner is announced. You can view the shortlisted titles in the various categories on The Children’s Book Council of Australia’s web site.
Dress-up Day: Tuesday 19 August
All students can participate in this. There will be a parade in the hall for Prep & Year 1 at 9am, and Years 2 & 3 at 10am. Parents and carers are invited to attend. Students in upper grades will have amore informal parade with their year levels.
Costumes do not need to be elaborate or expensive. Use what you have at home to create something so your child can join in the fun.
What's on in the library?
This week classes are reading Spiro by Anna McGregor and Everything you ever wanted to know about the Tooth Fairy (and some things you didn't) by Briony Stewart. There are displays in the library for each of the books, and you are welcome to pop in before or after school for a look. Books read in Weeks 1 and 2 were One little dung beetle by Rhian Williams and Don't worry, Felix by Yohann Devezy.
