Harmony Week 2026 is celebrated between 16 – 22 March 2026.

Harmony Week is a week to celebrate Australian multiculturalism. It is the opportunity for all Australians to embrace cultural diversity and to share what we have in common. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. As a school we live by the fundamental belief that everyone belongs. We believe that our diversity is our strength.

In 2026, we want to publicly celebrate Coorparoo State School’s cultural diversity with a Harmony Day parade. On Friday 20th March at 9.00, we will hold a whole school assembly that will include the opportunity for students to parade in traditional dress or a representation of their culture. Children who do not have a cultural dress or want another option are invited to wear orange. Parents, carers and members of our school community are encouraged to join us for this significant event and are welcome to also wear a representation of their culture.

In preparation for our special event, we encourage parents to get involved and, with their child, speak to the class about their cultural background (e.g. the meaning behind the cultural dress, foods, greetings or sayings in other languages).
